How to enter Shutterbug 2011….


Submissions will be taken from 1st Jan - 30th May.


The Festival will only accept entries from photographers who make less than $20,000 annually from photography (non-professional by the AIPP standard) All images submitted to Shutterbug remain the copyright of the photographer.


The Theme

The entry requires a series of photographs that will be shown as a slide show projection on the Shutterbug Award night.

Photographers are asked to submit a series of photographs with the same theme.

The theme of the series is at the photographer’s discretion but each image in the series must be clearly linked by that chosen theme, eg. The Beach, Day at the Races, Street Portraits, Landscapes, Fashion, India, Kenya, Amazon Tribe, Surfing etc etc The list is endless……

Check some of the 2010 contestants photos for possible themes.

The minimum number in the series is 15 images and the maximum is 35 images.

There is no limit to the number of photo series submitted by any one photographer, but only one will be chosen for projection.


Digital submissions only

Shutterbug accepts digital submissions only (Prints or negs need to be scanned and converted to digital files)

Files can be uploaded to a secure site for judging. Any finalists chosen may be required to submit a disk (CD or DVD) for the final screening.

For more than one submission you will need to create additional albums. (you need to be logged in to do this)

Photos may be uploaded any time after creating an account, however your work will not be considered as part of the competition until payment has been recieved.

The final number and edit of images selected for projection will be at the discretion of the selection panel. There will be 10 Finalists and 5 Semi-Finalists.

All contestants who enter will have at least one image shown on the festival night.

All Finalists will be notified with regards to the status of their entry.

All Finalists and Semi-Finalists work will be included in the Shutterbug Award book. Permission will be sought before publication.


File specifications

    The original files should be as large as possible. (E.g. Shot with at least a 3.0 MB camera)

    Preferred size is 2400 by 3600 pixels

    Files need to be in JPEG Format.

    Photoshop and similar software can be used to any degree the photographer would like, but no borders.

    The images may not show the name of a photographer.



Entry Fee

The Entry cost is $25.00 per photographer (add $12.00 if you would like a Shutterbug T-Shirt)


Multiple entries from a photographer are covered by this fee. The fee can be paid by:

    Please note that SHUTTERBUG will publish the names of finalists on press releases and on the SHUTTERBUG website. All copyright for images remains with the photographer but we reserve the right to use photographs for the promotions, publicity and on our website.
